A wise person (I think it may have been Andy Stone - where are you now Andy?) once said, "You should ask me 'What's the correct way to spell sapphire?'. If you ask me how I spell it, I can say anything I like, followed by 'I don't know how you spell it, but that's how I spell it, so you have to give me the points."
(He didn't actually say "sapphire". It was so long ago, I can't remember which word we were talking about!)
